The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling,
but in rising every time we fall
~Nelson Mandela
Some of our most powerful messages in life aren’t new discoveries but the moments we take to remind ourselves of the journey we’ve already endured.
I dug up one of my favorite interviews
We’re all going through something, friends.
Either we’re:
- In the middle of a storm
- Coming out of a storm
- Or bracing for the storm around the corner.
Whether your turnaround is next week, next month or next year, you’ll need patience and discipline to push through.
I’d like to leave you with two things.
A. Whatever’s going on around you doesn’t matter.
That includes yesterday, last week, last month, last year, or even this year. They only serve as distractions.
B. You only have one job.
Put your very best foot forward.
It’s not your perfect foot because you don’t have one! Only your very best foot forward.
And then, put your next best foot forward. It’s rinse and repeat from the darkest hole to the mountaintop.
You may ask, why is he writing this blog post to me? Honestly, I didn’t write it for you.
I wrote it for myself and I’m sharing it with you. This message serves no business purpose; it’s a human story. I’m guilty of writing messages to myself on occasion as a source of encouragement.
I’m reminding Greg that God is still in control and can use even our tough moments to move us forward if we allow it.
The greatest comeback stories
come on the heels of big losses.
Except for the interview above, you’re reading a note I wrote to myself some 20 years ago after facing what I felt was a major setback.
Once I stumbled across this message recently, it inspired me all over again. That major setback that I was so afraid of seems so tiny now.
I could be wrong, but I felt someone needed to hear this today. I hope you found comfort in the ramblings of some crazy bald dude!
Okay, I’m stepping out of the pulpit now!
